World War 1 Transport

This week Jayden, Mele, Marieta and I learnt about Life on the Transport Ship for World War 1. Together we all worked collaboratively to find information about the Transport Ship. In World War 1 there was a Transport Ship that took the enlisted people from New Zealand to Egypt ( which was there base ). I learnt that over 550 nurse died at war. It took about 6 weeks for the soldiers to get to Egypt. Each one of us received different roles to do. While Mele and Marieta were writing the 5 w's and H, Jayden and I were finding images and information about the Soldiers. We added the source links for the sites and images we used. Each group was to present their shared DLO's, which showed others that we were gaining our researching skills.

The 7 Continents

Combination Lock Challenge

LI: To look carefully at the maths language
LI: To chose the best strategy to answer the question
LI: To follow the clues in the right order

For maths this morning we created a combination lock challenge using maths language to give clues to help solve the problem. We were learning to problem solve to find solutions by choosing the best strategy. It was fun but a bit hard because we had to think about the order that we did the clues in.

interesting facts about shark

This morning we used keywords in a text to help us find out and be able to talk about facts about sharks. We used our ideas to write a collaborative summary of these facts.

Sharks are carnivores, that means they only eat meat like sea lions, dolphins or smaller sea creatures like crabs. It is true that sharks have attacked humans but not many people know that only 12 species of sharks have ever done this. A baby shark is called a pup and a group of sharks are known as shivers, shoals or schools. You can find sharks in every ocean but they won’t be staying still because they have to keep the water moving over their gills to stay alive.
